Top 1% achievers in Class XII (or equivalent) for Scholarship; for Fellowship: MSc in Basic Sciences pursuing PhD; valid entrance exam (CSIR-NET, GATE, JEST etc.) or rank in premier institution
Why it matters
DST INSPIRE is one of India's largest science talent pipelines — covering students from class 12 through PhD. The INSPIRE Fellowship gives stipend + research grant to 1,000 PhD scholars annually in basic science disciplines.
Benefits
INSPIRE Fellowship: ₹31,000/month stipend (increased 2024) + ₹20,000/year research grant; Scholarship: ₹10,000–₹20,000/year for BSc/MSc students
